Only last week PM Lee, in addressing how the new media is changing the way we communicate, demonstrated a product by Silicon Valley-based Company, Qik.

Qik has been getting rave reviews all over the web with top names like Kevin Rose, Founder and Site architect of Digg and Robert Scoble using the product along with many other Qik enthusiasts.

As we continue to promote the entrepreneurial environment in Singapore, we realize that understanding how it works in places like Silicon Valley, Bio Valley, Stockholm (Sweden), Shanghai and the new addition of Bangalore (India) will really go a long way in developing entrepreneurs that are more able to start companies that serve global markets.

We’re proud to say that Qik is currently part of the NUS Overseas College (NOC) program over in Silicon Valley, with 5 interns currently working there.

They were kind enough to spare some time between the exciting work they do at Qik, to provide us some quotes on their experience.

“Joining Qik was like a dream come true for me, given my interest in Web 2.0 technologies. Cutting edge technology, massive user response and feedback, superb team supporting the entire infrastructure, what more can I say? Things are moving at a blazing pace now with all the launches and extensive exposure, so it’s definitely going to an exciting year ahead for us interns at Qik.” Wayne Soh, Qik

“It really was enthralling to see our PM in action with Qik. Working with Qik here in the Valley opens up new perspectives of learning and sharing. With the PM using Qik, sharing and a participative ecosystem among youths is nevertheless encouraged!” Audrey Tan, Qik

“It feels amazing working in a startup that is gaining so much traction all over the world. Qik is simply bursting in virality and we’re seeing exponential adoption rates. More people are turning to live video streaming as it empowers them by giving them a voice (think next-generation citizen journalism!), and this could be the next biggest mainstream mobile function after calling and SMS.

There couldn’t be a more exciting time with recent investments by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowtiz, our own PM doing a live demo of our product at the national day rally, new features, more supported phones, and a swanky new office in downtown Broadway! This is only the beginning!” Minxuan Lee, Qik

“It has always been excited to work in Qik, the company has grown tremendously since we joined in early January this year, in terms of both the product development process and market awareness.
We have something to cheer for almost every day. It has varied from the Vatican pope start using Qik for documenting his world travel trip to a congressman doing a “secret interview” with President Bush on Qik; Main stream media conglomerates such as NBC picking up footage from Qik etc.” Jane Fu, Qik

And in case you missed it:  demo from PM Lee’s National Day Rally Speech.
